I'd like to wish a very happy (though slightly belated) twenty-seventh birthday to my best friend David.
Twenty-seven is a very special number, especially for those of us who are obsessed with threes.
So continuing in the spirit of what you and I have started THREE years ago now, I'd like to give you a gift of three.
As twenty-seven is a perfect cube (3x3x3) I have developed three thirty-minute pieces based around this concept.
Though convoluted through various musical means, these pieces were conceived in the key of D (for David).
Within the details of these pieces you might find (or might not) that there are 27 notes in all, played in groups of three.
These groups then repeat a total of 27 times, however, after edits, effects processing and abstraction, this is less apparent.
These three separate pieces represent thirds, making a greater whole, which can be taken literally as all three
may be played simultaneously for absolute cubic-surround-sound (HA).
Happy birthday Dave, and enjoy #27 - it's only THREE more years until THIRTY.
